Mr. Color (10 ml) JMSDF 2705 Dark Gray N4
Mr. Hobby C608 JMSDF 2705 Dark Gray N4 (10 ml) is a high quality synthetic solvent based paint (lacquer) from the Mr. Color series, designed for modern Japanese Navy.
This shade corresponds to the specification 2705 Dark Gray N4 and is used on Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) vessels. It is a darker gray color that serves as a contrasting camouflage for certain parts of theof superstructures, funnels or as a coating for deck surfaces, adding depth and realism to modern vessels. The colour provides a matt (Flat) finish and is key to achieving the accurate two-tone colour scheme of modern Japanese ships.
Mr. Hobby C608 JMSDF 2705 Dark Gray N4 (10 ml) is an indispensable complementary shade to color N5 (C607) for modeling Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) vessels. This paint is essential for a detailed and authentic representation of modern Japanese warships.
🚢 Purpose and Use of the Color (Modern Era)
While shade N5 (C607) forms the base, lighter gray color for most hulls and superstructures, shade 2705 Dark Gray N4 is used for accentuation and to create contrast on selected areas:
-
Contrast Coating: Shade N4, being a darker gray, is often applied to the upper parts of superstructures, funnels, radars, and surfaces prone to fouling, where it helps break up the ship’s silhouette against the background.
-
Decks: It can also be used to paint the deck surfaces of modern destroyers, where it creates a subtle contrast with the vertical surfaces of the hull and superstructures.
-
Authenticity: The use of both N5 and N4 shades is essential for achieving visual depth and a historically accurate color scheme, which is standardized within the modern JMSDF fleet.
-
Finish: A flat finish is standard for coatings on modern military equipment.
