Italeri Macchi MC.200 Serie XXI-XXIII 1:48

This plastic kit depicts the Italian fighter designed by Mario Castoldi. Together with the Fiat G.50, the Macchi MC.200 marked a major shift from biplanes such as the Fiat CR.32 and CR.42 to a monoplane with an all-metal airframe. In Regia Aeronautica service, it flew in Africa, the Mediterranean, the Balkans, and Russia.

The aircraft was powered by a 14-cylinder Fiat A.74 RC 38 twin-row radial engine rated at 840 hp, giving it a top speed of about 500 km/h. Standard armament consisted of two 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns mounted above the distinctive bulged engine cowling. On the latest versions, these were supplemented by two additional 7.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns in the wings.

The kit includes new parts, photo-etched parts, a color instruction sheet, and decals for six versions. The finished model measures 170 mm, and the manufacturer rates the kit as Skill 4. One model is included; the figure is not part of the package.
