The De Havilland DH.94 Moth Minor was a British two-seat light aircraft that first flew in September 1937 as a successor to the successful Moth series. It was designed as an economical, easy to fly machine for private pilots and flying clubs - with wooden construction, canvas covering and the reliable de Havilland Gipsy Minor engine. By the outbreak of the Second World War, de Havilland had managed to produce around 100 examples, some of which went to private owners and aero clubs in the UK, but also overseas to Australia, New Zealand and the African continent. The kit's title "In War and Peace" aptly describes this contrast: the same machines that served as tourist and training aircraft in peacetime found themselves in uniform after 1939. The RAF requisitioned dozens of civilian Moth Minors and assigned them to liaison and courier flights, training and auxiliary duties at home airfields. Some of these served with British forces in the Middle East and North Africa, where the light liaison aircraft played an indispensable role in the supply and communications chain.

Special Hobby's 1:72 scale kit brings this unassuming but historically interesting type in a form that will appeal to both pre-war civil aviation enthusiasts and modellers focused on the RAF and African battlefields. Included are decals for several variations - from silver civilian versions with British matriculations, to machines in the typical yellow paint of RAF trainer aircraft, to camouflages appropriate to the North African environment. The 1:72 scale allows the slim silhouette of the aircraft to be faithfully captured, while the model can easily be incorporated into an airport scene diorama or displayed as a stand-alone display piece. The paintwork applies both the clean, presentable finish of a civilian machine and the operational wear and dust appropriate to intensive wartime service. The package does not include paint or adhesives needed for assembly.
