This product AK WARGAME Terrains Volcanic Earth. (100 ml) is part of the AK Interactive Wargame Terrains series. It is designed for volcanic plains, lava fields, and scorched terrain. Once applied, you’ll achieve a surface with the character of dark, coarse volcanic soil. For greater realism, it can be combined with lava, and grooves and cracks can be sculpted into the fresh surface.

The compound combines the base color and a grainy texture in a single step, so there’s no need to first cover the base or terrain with separate loose material. The resulting texture can be adjusted by varying the amount of product used and the shaping technique.

Recommended Procedure

1. Remove dust, grease, and loose particles from the surface. On a plastic base, lightly roughen a very smooth surface.
2. Mix the compound and apply it with a putty knife, an old stiff brush, or a modeling tool. Do not create a uniform layer; natural terrain varies in height and texture.
3. While the surface is still fresh, shape ruts, tracks, grooves, cracks, or areas for rocks and vegetation. Blend the edges out gradually to avoid an unnatural step.
4. Let the layer dry completely. Thicker applications take longer to dry than a thin layer, so don’t rush to apply the next coat.
5. Once dry, the surface can be enhanced as needed with washes, drybrushing, pigments, vegetation, or other terrain effects.
