Included are detailed replicas of the barrel guns and other external armament elements that replace or supplement the standard plastic kit parts. Designed for advanced modelers who want to increase the detail and accuracy of their model. Package does not include paint or glue.
The Nakajima J1N1-S Gekko (Allied code name "Irving") was a Japanese two-seat night fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Naval Air Force during World War II. Originally designed as a long-range bomber escort, it was later modified for the night fighter role with a non-standard armament arrangement - guns mounted diagonally up and down, allowing it to attack enemy bombers from below or above, out of the field of view of their gunners. The Gekko was particularly useful in defending against night raids by American B-24 and B-29 bombers over the Pacific theater.
Hobby 2000's 1:72 scale set of 3D printed armament accessories provides more detailed and accurate replicas of the barrel weapons and associated components than standard plastic parts offer. 3D printing allows fine details such as barrel cooling, mounting features or surface texture to be captured, increasing the overall fidelity of the model to the historical model. The accessories are designed to be combined with existing 1:72 scale J1N1-S Gekko plastic kits. The package does not contain paint or glue.
