1/48 Sepecat Jaguar GR.1/GR.1a FOD and RBF covers

The Sepecat Jaguar GR.1/GR.1a was a British multirole fighter aircraft developed in collaboration between Britain and France during the 1960s. Originally intended as an advanced trainer, it quickly evolved into a full-fledged attack aircraft capable of to carry a wide range of weaponry and operate in challenging low-level conditions. The RAF deployed Jaguars in ground attack, reconnaissance and tactical support roles from the mid-1970s until 2007, when they were replaced by more modern types. The Jaguar has proved its worth in a number of conflicts including Operation Desert Storm (1991) and other NATO missions. It is an attractive subject for modellers due to its distinctive silhouette, varied camouflage and wide range of operational markings.

The Aires 1/48 FOD and RBF covers set adds important ground operations details to plastic kits that are normally missing from basic packages. FOD covers (Foreign Object Damage covers) are protective covers placed over jet engine inlets during parking to prevent foreign objects, birds, dirt or weather from entering sensitive engine parts. RBF (Remove Before Flight) refers to safety flags, decals or tape attached to various parts of the aircraft (e.g. RBFs (e.g. pitot tubes, weapon fuses, fuel caps) that must be removed before takeoff. These items greatly enhance the authenticity of a model parked at an airport, hangar or during maintenance.

The resin design allows fine details and precise shape, but requires careful handling - cleaning the casting, removing any excess material and bonding with a suitable adhesive (e.g. CA or epoxy). The kit is compatible with common 1:48 scale Jaguar GR.1/GR.1a kits, especially from Kitty Hawk and Heller. Suitable for modellers with aftermarket experience and an interest in detailed depiction of ground operations. The package does not include paint or glue.
