The CW 24-B “US Test Plane” is a 1/72-scale resin model kit of an aircraft from CMK.

In 1939, the USAAF commissioned three aircraft manufacturers to design unorthodox fighter aircraft based on the R-40C specifications. These specifications led to the development of the Vultee XP-54, Northrop XP-56, and Curtiss XP-55 Ascender fighters. Curtiss tested the XP-55’s performance using a scaled-down flying mockup, the Cw 24-B. It had a steel-tube fuselage covered with fabric and a wooden wing. It was powered by a Menasco C68-5 engine. The yellow-painted aircraft was tested at Muroc Dry Lake in the first half of 1942. We have prepared a kit of this unusually shaped aircraft as a resin model with small parts printed on a 3D printer. The kit also includes a vacuum-formed canopy for the pilot and technician’s cockpits, as well as decals.

The resin parts require trimming, test fitting, and gluing with a suitable adhesive. Paints, adhesive, and tools are not typically included in the package.
