1/48 Buccaneer S.2C/D double-sided mask self-adhesive, pre-cut for Airfix
ASK masks for the Airfix Buccaneer S.2C/D in 1/48 scale are double-sided. Exterior masks 1–13 are joined by masks 14–20 for the inner side of the canopy and by circular masks.
ASK derived the shape and size of each mask straight from the clear parts of the Airfix Buccaneer S.2C/D kit in 1/48 scale, so the set is its own design. The upper part of double-sided set ASK 200-M48099 (SCALE MASK) matches the one-sided version 200-M48098: masks 1–13 for the outer side of the glazing and a strip of circular masks with kit part numbers (G21, G22, G41–G43). The lower part of the sheet adds masks 14–20, shaped to the inner side of both canopy sections and the windscreen.
The Blackburn Buccaneer carrier strike aircraft was designed to approach its target at low level, beneath the horizon of enemy radar. It served with the Fleet Air Arm from 1962 to 1979; from 1975 the S.2D could carry Martel missiles. The masks fit the Airfix plastic kit in 1/48 scale.
