1/72 J1N1-S Gekko Wheels
Hobby 2000 1/72 J1N1-S Gekko Wheels 3D-print is a set of spare wheels produced by 3D printing technology for the 1:72 scale model of the Japanese night fighter Nakajima J1N1-S Gekko. The accessory allows to improve the detail of the landing gear compared to the standard plastic parts from the original kit.
The Nakajima J1N1-S Gekko (Allied code name: "Irving") was a Japanese twin-engine aircraft originally designed as a long-range escort for fighter units, which was later converted to a night fighter. In this role, it proved particularly useful in defending Japanese bases against night raids by American bombers. A distinctive feature of the J1N1-S version was its non-standard armament - guns mounted diagonally upwards and downwards, which allowed it to attack bombers from below or above without the need for complex manoeuvres.
The Hobby 2000 kit features replacement wheels made using 3D printing technology, replacing the standard plastic parts from the original kit. 3D printing allows finer detail of the tire tread, side lettering and rim structure to be rendered, adding to the overall authenticity of the model. The wheels are supplied unfinished and it is recommended that any support structures are removed and a basic surface treatment is carried out prior to installation. Installation is carried out in the same way as for the original parts.
