The Heinkel He 119 was an experimental German high-speed aircraft with an unusual powerplant: two coupled DB 601 units formed the fuselage-mounted DB 606 and drove the propeller through a long shaft passing through the cockpit. The project was conceived as a fast unarmed reconnaissance bomber.
The He 119 V5 is the float-equipped form of this unusual prototype. Its twin floats and glazed nose make it a distinctive subject for a collection of German experimental aircraft.
