CMK B-17F/G Flying Fortress - Wright R-1820 Engine for Academy is a 1:72-scale resin engine kit designed for Academy’s B-17F and B-17G Flying Fortress plastic models.
What the set addresses
It replaces the kit’s standard Wright R-1820 engine with a more detailed powerplant for an open-cowling display.
Recommended Procedure
- Before separating the parts, compare the resin parts with the assembly instructions and dry-fit them to verify their positions.
- Remove the mold sprues gradually using a fine-toothed saw or by sanding. When sanding the resin, work with water and avoid inhaling the resulting dust.
- Degrease the parts, let them dry, and glue them together using cyanoacrylate or two-part epoxy adhesive; standard polystyrene glue will not bond the resin.
- Before painting, apply a suitable primer and then proceed with paints corresponding to the chosen reference model.
Note: The basic plastic model kit is not included in the package. For assembly, refer to adhesives suitable for resin, and for finishing, use model paints and primers.
