About the aircraft

The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) AV‑8B Harrier II is an attack aircraft representing the second generation of the British Harrier, capable of vertical or short take-off and landing (V/STOL). This unique capability allows Harriers to operate from the decks of smaller aircraft carriers, amphibious assault ships and makeshift forward operating bases. The aircraft was developed as part of a collaboration between the United States and the United Kingdom and entered service with the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in 1985. The Harrier II Plus variant introduced a major modernisation in 1993 — the advanced APG‑65 pulse Doppler radar (the same as that used by the F/A‑18 Hornet fighters) significantly improved the aircraft’s all-weather capabilities and enabled the use of AIM‑120 AMRAAM medium-range missiles. Thanks to these improvements, the AV‑8B Harrier II Plus became a versatile multi-role aircraft deployed in numerous conflicts, including Operation Desert Storm, the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan.

3D-printed SJU-4 ejection seat with safety belts (ASK, cat. no. 200-A48071) — the centrepiece of every cockpit and one of the most prominent features of the finished model. Thanks to advanced 3D printing, it features every detail, from the straps and buckles to the complex mechanisms on the sides of the seat — parts that could not be replicated using traditional methods. The seat is designed specifically for the UMa kit, so there’s no need for sanding or filling: you simply replace the original part. Modellers rate it 5.0 out of 5 stars.

Double-sided pre-cut ‘Express Fit’ masking film (ASK, cat. no. 200‑M48314) — made from the highest-quality Japanese Kabuki masking film. All parts are printed with numbers which, together with the instructions, precisely define their position and application on the model. This ensures sharp, clean lines without paint bleeding onto the cockpit canopy or wheel discs — making the work much easier and saving time on the way to a perfect model.
