1/35 Raupenschlepper Ost RSO/01. Last Prod

The Raupenschlepper Ost (RSO) was created in direct response to the experience of the first winter battles on the Eastern Front, where standard Wehrmacht wheeled vehicles proved to be unsuccessful in deep snow, mud and on unpaved roads. The project was launched in the autumn of 1941 with the aim of creating a simple, robust and easy to manufacture fully tracked vehicle for supply and transport tasks in extreme conditions. The design was based on civilian agricultural tractors and deliberately adhered to the principle of maximum simplicity - steel frame, open cab, minimal comfort for the crew but high reliability and the ability to pull trailers or carry cargo directly on the loading area.

RSO/01 refers to the basic transport version with an open cargo area, which was the most common and was used to transport ammunition, food, fuel, weapons and wounded. The late production series (Last Production) brought minor design changes resulting from wartime experience and simplification of production - changes in undercarriage details, cabin modifications, different placement of tools and spare parts. These vehicles were produced until the end of the war and served not only on the Eastern Front, but also in Italy, France and other battlefields where the terrain required tracked equipment.

The 1:35 scale MiniArt kit depicts the last production variant with typical features of late production. Included are photo-etched parts for finer details (grilles, brackets, tool belts) and decals for four marking variations covering different units and periods of deployment. The 1:35 scale is standard for military equipment and allows for a faithful rendering of construction, wear and service marks - RSOs typically bore the marks of heavy use, mud, snow, rusting surfaces and field repairs. The model is suitable for display structures as well as dioramas depicting supply, winter operations or abandoned equipment. Package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
