1/35 M1128 MGS Stryker After 2008

The M1128 Mobile Gun System (MGS) is an eight-wheeled combat vehicle from the Stryker family, developed for the United States Army as a mobile platform for direct fire support of infantry. It was based on the Canadian LAV III armoured vehicle and was equipped with a 105mm gun with an automatic loading system; amongst other things, it was intended to take over the role of the decommissioned M551 Sheridan light tank. The vehicle combines mobility, rapid deployability and powerful firepower, making it an important component of the Stryker Brigade Combat Teams. A distinctive feature is its low-profile, stabilised turret with a small silhouette, mounting a 105mm gun with an exhaust gas extraction system and an automatic loading mechanism. The MGS has been extensively deployed in modern conflicts, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan, where it provided infantry with rapid and accurate fire support in both urban and expeditionary environments.

This 1:35 scale kit from Rye Field Model depicts the M1128 variant as it appeared after 2008, when, based on combat experience, a number of modifications were made to improve reliability, crew protection and maintenance, whilst retaining its powerful weapon system. The model is characterised by an exceptionally high level of detail in both its external finish and internal layout. Model-makers can thus access the vehicle’s interior via opening hatches and display its mechanical components. The precisely rendered hull, turret with gun and wheeled running gear enable the construction of a realistic replica of a modern combat vehicle.

The kit includes photo-etched parts, which enhance the level of detail, eight rubber tyres, a functional suspension system for a realistic vehicle stance, and a sheet of decals. Thanks to the large number of parts, the kit offers extensive possibilities for more advanced modelling and a higher level of construction complexity (difficulty rating approximately 4/5). The model is particularly suitable for modellers interested in modern military technology, dioramas depicting 21st-century conflicts, and collectors of US Army equipment. Paints and glue, which are not included in the kit, are required for assembly and finishing.
