1/48 F-4S PHANTOM II
The new 1/48 F-4S Phantom II kit brings a modernized version of the famous American fighter aircraft with faithfully captured design differences from the J and N variants. The model reproduces all the airframe, avionics and aerodynamic improvements that characterized the S version - including a wing with forward slots, new antennas, struts and EL formation lights. An ideal choice for modelers who want a realistic representation of the late service Phantom in the US Navy and USMC fleets.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4S Phantom II was an upgraded version of the legendary two-seat supersonic fighter aircraft that served in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps in the late 1970s and 1980s. The S variant was a rebuild of the older J and N versions under the Bee Line program and included more than 200 design modifications to improve flight characteristics, avionics and airframe durability.
The 1/48 scale model accurately reproduces the main features of this version - new wings with forward slots for better low speed maneuverability, slim aerodynamic bulkheads on the folding part of the wings, modified wingtips and the characteristic EL shaping lights on the fuselage, wings and vertical tailplane. Changes to the cockpit include an added rear view mirror, newly shaped sights, control stick and optical instruments.
The fuselage features realistic renderings of the distinct antennas, new intake covers, modified hatch shapes, and reinforcement panels on the bottom of the mid-fuselage. The model also captures the exact location of all antennas as well as the differences from earlier J versions, including the removal of additional elements behind the nose gear shaft.
This kit offers a combination of precision construction, realistic shapes and excellent melding of parts, the partsthat perfectly captures the late service era of the Phantom II - an aircraft that became a symbol of American Cold War air superiority.
The package does not include the paint or adhesives needed for assembly.
