1/48 F-4D PHANTOM II
SWS48-09 1/48 F-4J Phantom II Navy - limited edition with markings of famous VF-142 "Ghostriders" unit. This detailed model captures the iconic shape of the naval Phantom with its realistically rendered nose, intakes and distinctive tail with the Command Aircraft Group (CAG) color markings. An ideal choice for modelers who want to faithfully build an American naval fighter aircraft from the Vietnam War era.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II represented the pinnacle of development for the naval version of the legendary two-seatsupersonic fighter aircraft that became a symbol of US Navy aviation during the Vietnam War. The J version was designed primarily for airborne operations and introduced a strengthened airframe, upgraded AN/AWG-10 radar, new fire control systems, and more powerful J79-GE-10 thrust-turning engines.
Zoukei-Mura's 1/48th scale SWS48-09 kit was developed after careful study of the actual aircraft to maximize the from the wide nose with its sharp profile to the massive engine intakes. Thanks to precise research into the design and shapes, the Phantom's most distinctive features, which are often the most challenging to model, have been faithfully captured.
The model features the markings of the famous VF-142 "Ghostriders" unit that operated from the deck of the USS America (CVA-66) and was one of the most famous units deployed to Vietnam since the 1964 Tonkin Incident. The machine is depicted in its late form with its distinctive vertical tail in orange-yellow and a rudder decorated with multicoloured stars denoting the Commander Air Group (CAG) aircraft.
The F-4J Phantom II participated in many combat operations and became the backbone of the U.S. Naval Air Forces during the 1960s and 1970s. The SWS kit offers not only exceptional accuracy of the shapes, but also a realistic representation of all the details - from the cockpit to the armament - and delivers a faithful portrayal of one of the Cold War's most famous aircraft.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
