1/32 Me 109 K recommended for Trumpeter

The Messerschmitt Bf 109K-4 was one of the last production variants of the legendary German Bf 109 fighter aircraft, which formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe fighter force throughout World War II. The K-4 variant was introduced in late 1944 as an attempt to standardize production and improve performance at a time when Germany was struggling with material and production difficulties. Compared to earlier versions, it brought a more powerful Daimler-Benz DB 605D or DB 605DC engine with up to 2,000 horsepower, allowing speeds of over 700 km/h. The K-4 retained the proven design but was fitted with improved armament and aerodynamic modifications. In practice, it was primarily used to defend Reich territory against Allied bomber formations and to engage escort fighters. Of interest to modellers, the Bf 109K-4 is the last operational developmental branch of the iconic machine that saw the entire war through.
