The Grumman F-14B Bombcat is a modernized version of the famous F-14 Tomcat, the iconic F-14 fighter aircraft that has been a symbol of the U.S. Navy since the 1970s. The F-14B variant received more powerful and reliable GE F110 engines and, since the mid-1990s, the ability to carry precision-guided munitions through the integration of the LANTIRN targeting system. This modification transformed the Tomcat from a pure fighter into a versatile combat platform capable of conducting strike operations, resulting in a version unofficially referred to as the "Bombcat". It was this configuration that played a significant role in US Navy operations at the turn of the millennium.
