1/35 StuG III Ausf. G Early Production Version
Model 1/35 StuG III Ausf. G Early Production represents an early production version of the German WWII Sturmgeschütz III assault gun. Built on a Panzer III tank chassis, the StuG III became one of the Wehrmacht's most widely used armoured guns and served primarily as an anti-tank weapon. This kit offers a detailed treatment of the early Ausf. G, which was deployed on both the Eastern and Western fronts.
The Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) was developed as an infantry support vehicle based on the Panzer III tank chassis. The first versions were armed with a 75 mm short-barreled gun and designed to destroy fortifications. As the war progressed, however, the vehicle quickly evolved into an effective anti-tank vehicle, especially after the introduction of the StuK 40 L/48 long gun. The StuG III's low profile, powerful armament and relatively inexpensive production made it the most widely used armoured vehicle of the German Army, with over 10,000 units produced.
The Ausf. G, introduced into production in 1942, represented the most produced and most deployed variant. The early production units had a characteristic low superstructure without later armour modifications and differed in details on the ventilation and armament. These machines were heavily deployed on the Eastern Front during the battles against Soviet armoured units, but also in North Africa and later on the Western Front.
The 1/35th scale kit offers a detailed version of the early StuG III Ausf. G with realistic hull, chassis and armament. Thanks to the many fine details, it provides the opportunity to build an authentic replica of one of the most important armoured vehicles of WWII.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
