1/35 Sikorsky S-64E Skycrane
The ICM 1/35 S-64E Skycrane is a 1/35th scale model of a heavy transport helicopter. Developed by Sikorsky and later produced by Erickson, the S-64 was designed to transport cargo, structural parts and equipment. The E variant was a modernization of the original machines and became one of the most distinctive helicopters of its time due to its distinctive design without a conventional fuselage.
The Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane is one of the most admired heavy transport helicopters of the post-war era. The first prototype flew in the early 1960s and the machine was designed to carry heavy cargo suspended under the fuselage. Thanks to its open design with a narrow fuselage, massive undercarriage and powerful engines, it could carry containers, artillery pieces, vehicles and construction parts. The US Army used it under the designation CH-54 Tarhe and the helicopter played a significant role during the Vietnam War, where it was deployed to move equipment over difficult terrain.
The S-64E version represents an upgraded variant that Erickson Air-Crane continued to produce and maintain in service. The machines were used not only for military purposes, but also in the civilian sphere - in the construction of high-voltage lines, transporting heavy parts and as firefighting helicopters with water bags. Thanks to its unique design and precision manoeuvring capability, the Skycrane has found applications all over the world and remains to this day the symbol of specialised heavy-lift helicopters.
