It is designed to simulate running dirt on light gray ships, aircraft, and military vehicles. AK Interactive AK305 Streaking Grime for Light Grey Ships (35 ml) Creates realistic vertical streaks of running dirt and localized deposits. A shade of light gray is chosen for the running dirt on light gray ships, aircraft, and military vehicles. On the side of a ship, apply strokes vertically and vary the intensity according to where water and dirt actually run down.
Unlike a wash, this effect is not applied uniformly to all seams. It is used to specifically depict dirt, moisture, or operational deposits, and its shape is created by subsequent blending.
Recommended Procedure
- Shake the bottle thoroughly to ensure the pigment is evenly mixed.
- Work on a fully cured painted or varnished surface. For unknown combinations of paints and varnishes, first test on a hidden area.
- Using a fine, pointed brush, draw short, irregular vertical lines starting from the upper edges and details. You can leave some of the product in the corners to simulate accumulated dirt.
- Let it dry for about 10 minutes. Then, using a clean flat brush lightly dampened with White Spirit, brush from top to bottom to soften the lines until a natural transition is achieved.
- Vary the length, thickness, and intensity of the strokes. Once dry, you can reinforce selected stripes with another thin layer.
- Allow the layer to dry thoroughly before applying another coat of paint or additional enamel effects.
Use AK Interactive White Spirit 35 ml for blending and removing excess paint. For finer work and less odor, AK Interactive Odorless Thinner 35 ml is recommended.
