1/48 Nakajima J1N1-Sa double-sided express mask for Tamiya
ASK masks from the Express range for the Tamiya Nakajima J1N1-Sa Gekko plastic kit in 1/48 scale are double-sided. Two sheets cover the panes of the long crew canopy inside and out.
ASK designs the masks in-house, working directly from the parts of the Tamiya J1N1-Sa Gekko kit (1/48). Set ASK 200-M48058 from the SCALE MASK range comes on two sheets. One holds masks 1–28 for the individual canopy panes and a WHEELS section, the other masks numbered up to 36 and small masks for parts D4 and D9. With masks for both faces, the frames stay clean even when seen through the glazing. The one-sided version is 200-M48057.
The Gekko (Moonlight) operated as a Navy night fighter against American bombers. Its first successes in 1943 came from a field modification with upward-firing oblique cannon, which the production J1N1-S and J1N1-Sa then adopted. The mask shapes follow the clear parts of the Tamiya J1N1-Sa Gekko kit in 1/48 scale.
