1/48 Curtiss Kittyhawk Mk.I / Mk.II "Desert Harassers" 1942-1944 part I
Art Scale 1/48 Curtiss Kittyhawk Mk.I / Mk.II “Desert Harassers” part I is a decal sheet for four aircraft of Nos. 3 and 450 Squadrons RAAF in North Africa and Italy, 1942–1944.
This 1/48 Art Scale decal sheet depicts Australian Kittyhawks in desert camouflage. It offers four options:
- Kittyhawk Mk.I, OK-K, No. 450 Squadron RAAF, Libya, 1943
- Kittyhawk Mk.I, OK-M, No. 450 Squadron RAAF, Libya, 1942
- Kittyhawk Mk.II, CV-V, No. 3 Squadron RAAF, commanding officer Sqn Ldr Brian Eaton, Cutella airfield, Italy, 1944
- Kittyhawk Mk.II, CV-V, FL308, No. 3 Squadron RAAF, Sqn Ldr Bobby Gibbes, Egypt, August–September 1942
Kittyhawk was the British and Commonwealth name for later versions of the Curtiss P-40 fighter. The Australian Nos. 3 and 450 Squadrons RAAF flew them as fighter-bombers in North Africa and later in Italy; No. 450 Squadron was nicknamed the “Desert Harassers”. The sheet combines Mk.I and Mk.II versions, so the base kit should match the chosen option.
