1/48 Buccaneer S.2B double-sided express fit mask for Airfix
ASK masks for the Airfix Buccaneer S.2B in 1/48 come as a double-sided Express Fit set. Two sheets cover the cockpit glazing inside and out, and the set also includes ring-shaped masks with G references.
The set is ASK's own design, with mask shapes following the parts of the Airfix Buccaneer S.2B kit in 1/48 scale. Set ASK 200-M48232 from the SCALE MASK range comes on two sheets. The first carries triangular and shaped pane masks, outline strips and ring-shaped masks marked G21, G22 and G41, among others. The second sheet holds masks 14–20 – two triangular masks, outline strips and the narrow mask 14; the double-sided layout covers the glazing inside and out. The one-sided version is 200-M48231.
The Buccaneer was developed for the Royal Navy as an answer to the Soviet Sverdlov-class light cruisers, attacking at low level beneath the ships' radar horizon. The more powerful S.2 with Rolls-Royce Spey engines appeared in 1965, and the S.2B derived from it served with the RAF and could carry Martel missiles. The set is intended for the Airfix plastic kit in 1/48 scale.
