1/32 Douglas TBD-1 Devastator part 3 - pre-war period 1940
ASK 1/32 Douglas TBD-1 Devastator part 3 – pre-war period is a decal set for three US Navy Devastators in colourful pre-war schemes from 1940–1941.
This 1/32 ASK sheet provides Bu.No. 0294 "3-T-14" of VT-3 from the carrier USS Saratoga with the squadron badge on the fuselage side (NAS North Island, San Diego, 1940), Bu.No. 0299 "71-S-16" of VS-71 from USS Wasp with a dark fin (Atlantic, 23 May 1941), and an aircraft of VT-42 from USS Ranger (NAS Norfolk, 1941).
Before the war, US Navy aircraft carried bold squadron codes and coloured tail surfaces that distinguished the individual ships. The Devastator entered service in 1937 as an all-metal carrier-based monoplane. The 1/32 TBD-1 plastic kit is sold separately.
If necessary, the decal carrier varnish can be removed by washing it off with Zippo lighter fluid.
