1/72 J-22 Orao
Litaki 1/72 J-22 Orao is a 1/72 scale model of the Yugoslavian combat and reconnaissance aircraft. Developed in cooperation between Yugoslavia and Romania in the 1970s, the J-22 served as a subsonic attack aircraft designed to support ground forces. The kit offers a detailed rendition of this distinctive aircraft that has become a symbol of the domestic aviation industry.
The J-22 Orao ("Eagle") was a joint project of the Yugoslav and Romanian design schools in the 1970s. The aircraft was designed as a light combat and reconnaissance machine with emphasis on simplicity, durability and the ability to operate from makeshift airfields. Propulsion was provided by a pair of jet engines that allowed it to reach subsonic speeds, while the Orao carried a chranging from unguided missiles and bombs to cannons and reconnaissance containers.
The J-22 entered the arsenals of both the Yugoslav and Romanian air forces in the late 1970s and became the backbone of tactical aviation in the region. It was used for both direct support of ground troops and reconnaissance flights. The Orao became a symbol of technical cooperation between the two countries and managed to remain in service after the breakup of Yugoslavia. Upgraded versions of the J-22 are still flying in Serbia today.
Litaki's 1/72 scale kit presents a detailed rendition of this machine with realistic fuselage, wings and armament. Thanks to the precise design, it allows to build an authentic replica of a less known but technically interesting combat aircraft.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
