1/72 Brewster F2A-1/2 Buffalo
Hobby 2000 1/72 Brewster F2A-1/2 Buffalo is an American deck fighter aircraft from the beginning of WWII. The F2A-1 and F2A-2 versions served in the US Navy before the more modern types were deployed and were also exported abroad. Package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
The Brewster F2A Buffalo was the US Navy's first all-metal fighter aircraft with retractable landing gear and an enclosed cockpit. It entered service in the late 1930s and was intended to be a modern replacement for the Grumman F3F biplane. The F2A-1 version was produced from 1939 and carried an armament of four Browning machine guns of 7.62 and 12.7 mm calibre. The subsequent F2A-2 variant had a more powerful Wright R-1820-40 engine and other improvements including increased fuel capacity.
Although it soon became obsolete in combat against modern fighters, it served on US Navy aircraft carriers and in coastal defense during the early stages of the war. Some machines were exported to Finland, where they scored considerable success in the Winter and Continuation Wars, and to Britain, where they bore the designation Buffalo Mk.I.
The 1/72nd scale Hobby 2000 kit includes detailed plastic parts with fine surface engraving and decals for authentic markings of the F2A-1 and F2A-2 versions. The kit is suitable for modellers interested in early WWII fighters and aircraft.
The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
