1/72 Astir CS Jeans
KPM 1/72 Astir CS Jeans is a 1/72 scale plastic kit of a modern single-seat glider used by Belgian Air Cadets for sport and training flying. The aircraft is based on the Grob G 102 Astir, one of the most famous fiberglass gliders of the 1970s. The kit features detailed fuselage, wings and cabin and includes decals for the Belgian livery.
The Grob G 102 Astir was one of the first modern gliders made of fiberglass composites and became a populartion in many countries due to its balanced flight characteristics, easy maintenance and reliability. Its Astir CS Jeans variant was an improved version designed for training and sport flying, which was exported to many European countries including Belgium.
The Belgian Air Cadets used the Astir CS Jeans for basic and advanced training of young pilots as part of aviation programs supported by the Belgian Air Force. These sleek gliders were characterised by their white livery with distinctive Belgian insignia and became a symbol of flight training in the 1970s and 1980s.
