The Orlican L-40 Meta Sokol was created in the second half of the 1950s as a successor to the successful series of Zlins and Sokols. The aircraft was designed by František Šmolík at the Orličan Choceň factory and first flew in 1959. The L-40 was characterized by its all-metal construction, low wing and retractable tricycle landing gear, which added to its modernity and performance. Propulsion was provided by a 140 hp M-332 engine, which enabled the aircraft to reach speeds of over 200 km/h.

The Meta Sokol was designed for sport and tourist flying, navigation training and long-distance cross-country competitions. Thanks to its flight characteristics and elegant appearance, it gained popularity not only in Czechoslovakia, but also abroad - several units were exported to Western Europe. The machine became a symbol of the Czechoslovak aviation design school of the late 1950s and is still one of the sought-after veterans of aviation history.

The 1/48 scale KPM kit presents a detailed design of the Orlican L-40 with finely crafted surface details, cabin interior and precise proportions. Offering authentic decals for several versions, it is an ideal choice for modelers interested in Czechoslovak civil and sport aviation.

The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
