1/48 Messerschmitt Me-410A-1 High Speed Bombe
Meng 1/48 Messerschmitt Me 410A-1 is a plastic kit of German WWII heavy fighter and bomber aircraft. This machine, a follow-up to the problematic Bf 110 and Me 210, was deployed as a fast bomber and fighter capable of escort and ground target attacks.
The Messerschmitt Me 410 Hornisse was developed as an improved and redesigned version of the unsuccessful Me 210. It entered service in 1943 and was intended to reinforce the German Air Force as a heavy fighter and bomber aircraft. The Me 410A-1 variant was equipped with twin Daimler-Benz DB 603A engines and reached speeds of over 600 km/h, making it the fastest heavy twin-engined Luftwaffe machine of its time. It was primarily tasked with rapid strikes on strategic targets and combat with Allied bombers, and its armament included a combination of guns, machine guns and bomb load.
Although the Me 410 represented a significant improvement over its predecessors, its combat deployment was limited by the increasing superiority of the Allied air forces. The aircraft took part in operations over Europe, attacking bomber formations and shipping targets. They also served as reconnaissance aircraft and night fighters. Despite its capabilities, the Me 410 was unable to turn the tide of the war.
The 1/48 scale Meng kit offers a detailed model of this version of the Horniss. It features a realistic cockpit, finely crafted surface details and precision-formed parts that allow the model to be built in the form characteristic of the Me 410A-1. It is suitable for both stand-alone display and as a complement to dioramas focusing on the late WWII period.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
