1/48 F-4EJ Kai PHANTOM II Phantom Forever 2020

The McDonnell Douglas F-4EJ Kai was an upgraded version of the American F-4E fighter aircraft, licensed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF). The "Kai" (translated as "improved") upgrade included new avionics systems, advanced radars, precision-guided weapons equipment, and improved protection. The F-4EJ Kai aircraft remained in active service longer than originally planned and have been a mainstay of Japanese air defense for more than four decades.

The "Phantom Forever 2020" version bears a distinctive commemorative livery that was created to honor the last F-4EJ Kai aircraft in service with the 301st JASDF Squadron at Hyakuri. These machines were symbolic of the long era of the Phantom in Japanese livery and have become legendary not only among pilots but also among aviation enthusiasts around the world.
