The Grumman C-2A Greyhound is a twin-engine turboprop transport aircraft developed from the S-2 Tracker anti-submarine aircraft and the E-2 Hawkeye airborne aircraft. It entered service in 1966 as a dedicated aircraft for COD (Carrier Onboard Delivery), the transport of supplies, cargo and personnel between land and aircraft carriers. Its reliability and ability to operate from aircraft carrier decks made it indispensable to the U.S. Navy. The C-2A Greyhound was deployed beginning in the late 1960s during the Vietnam War and continued to serve in other conflicts, including Operation Desert Storm and missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Upgraded machines with next-generation avionics remained in service into the 21st century, when the Osprey V-22 gradually began replacing them.
The 1/48 scale Kinetic kit features a detailed C-2A Greyhound with finely engraved surface details, a realistically rendered cockpit and cargo hold. With modern forms, high level of detail and a wide range of markings, it offers modelers the opportunity to build attractive piece that has become a key element of the US Navy's logistical support for more than half a century.
The package does not include the paint or adhesives needed for assembly.
