1/48 AF-2 Guardian double-sided fit express mask for Special Hobby
ASK masks in a double-sided self-adhesive Fit Express version, made for the Special Hobby AF-2 Guardian in 1/48 scale. They cover the cockpit glazing and windows inside and out, and large circular masks are added.
This set is ASK's own design, cut to the shapes of the clear parts in the Special Hobby kit in 1/48 scale. Sheet ASK 200-M48164 from the SCALE MASK range carries two sets of glazing masks – the first with lower numbers, the second numbered 16–27 – one for the outer side and one for the inner side. They comprise shaped windscreen and frame masks, large rectangular masks, narrow strips and small masks. Circular masks 13 and four large circular masks, 14, complete the set. The one-sided version is 200-M48163.
The Grumman AF Guardian was the US Navy's first carrier aircraft purpose-built for anti-submarine warfare. It worked in pairs: the radar-equipped AF-2W searched for submarines while the AF-2S carried bombs, depth charges, torpedoes or rockets. It served from September 1950 and was displaced from the front line by the S2F Tracker soon after the Korean War. The masks are shaped for the Special Hobby kit in 1/48 scale.
