Thunder Model 1/35 US Heavy Wrecker Ward LaFrance M1000 Series 5 is a detailed plastic model kit of a WWII heavy US military wrecker. The Ward LaFrance M1000 Series 5 heavy recovery vehicle was one of the most important logistics and support vehicles of the U.S. Army during World War II. It was developed out of the need for a reliable vehicle capable of towing and repairing heavy armored vehicles, including tanks and self-propelled guns. The vehicle was built on a 6×6 chassis and powered by a Continental six-cylinder engine, which provided ample power even in difficult terrain. The Series 5 version was introduced in 1943 and featured a powerful hydraulic crane, a military cab with a canvas roof and a folding windshield. In total, approximately 3,500 were produced and served all over the world, from Europe to the Pacific.
