This 1/16th scale figure represents a Roman legionary from the Early Imperial period, specifically from the 1. The Roman army reached the peak of its organization, discipline and military strength. The soldier is depicted in the classical equipment that was common during the reign of the Emperor Augustus and his successors: He wears segmented armour (lorica segmentata), a helmet of the imperial-gallic type with cheekpieces, a short sword gladius on his right hip and the typical oval scutum shield. He is also armed with a spear (pilum), which was designed to break enemy shields and formations just before contact.
MiniArt opted for a larger 1/16 scale, which allows for very fine detail on the face, equipment and armament. The figure faithfully captures not only the armour and equipment found in archaeological finds, but also the attitude and expression that corresponds to the ideal of Roman military discipline. This figure is suitable for both stand-alone representations of the legionary as a collector's model and as an addition to historical scenes or dioramas. Its sophistication makes it ideal for figure collectors focused on antiquity and early Roman history.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
