According to Tamiya, smoothing painted surfaces or clear parts with 87144 beforehand shortens the subsequent polishing with compound. The polyester backing with fine abrasive avoids coarse scratches, and the film can be cut to size and used for wet sanding.
Grit #3000 refines the surface further before finer films or polishing compound. Three 93 × 228 mm films are included.
