The Republic P-47D Thunderbolt, nicknamed the "Jug", was one of the largest and best armed single-seat fighter aircraft of World War II. The "Razorback" version , named for the distinctive shape of the fuselage spine, was deployed in both Europe and the Pacific, providing escort to bombers and conducting offensive operations against ground targets. With eight 12.7mm machine guns and the ability to carry bombs or rockets, the P-47D was extremely versatile.
Powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine, it had excellent survivability and could return to base with heavy damage. Thunderbolts played a key role in the offensives over occupied Europe, protecting Allied bombers and destroying enemy infrastructure.
The Tamiya 1/72 P-47D Thunderbolt "Razorback" kit features precision crafted plastic parts with finely engravedpanels, a realistic cockpit with controls and a choice of different armament configurations. The model also includes decals for historic aircraft serving in WWII.
The high level of detail and historical accuracy make this model ideal for any modeler interested in American WWII fighter aircraft.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
