Sharks and Stallions DUAL COMBO 1/48

The Eduard 11200 ‘Sharks and Stallions’ kit is a limited edition that brings together two iconic American World War II fighter aircraft — the P-40N Warhawk and the P-51B/C Mustang — in the popular 1:48 scale. The focus on the China-Burma-India (CBI) theatre provides a strong thematic framework: it was in this very theatre that both types made their name, not least in the colours of units following in the footsteps of the famous ‘Flying Tigers’, whose aircraft were often adorned with a distinctive shark’s mouth on the nose of the engine — hence the ‘Sharks’ in the edition’s name.

The Curtiss P-40 was one of the mainstays of the Allied fighter force during the early and middle stages of the war. Although it did not match the high-altitude performance of some later models, it excelled in terms of robustness, ease of maintenance and reliability in demanding conditions, making it a valuable asset in the CBI Theatre. The P-40N was one of the lightest and best-tuned variants in the series. The North American P-51B/C Mustang, by contrast, represented the next generation of fighters — combined with the Merlin engine, the Mustang achieved performance and range that made it one of the most significant fighters of the war. The early B/C versions were still characterised by a classic canopy (without the later teardrop shape).

The kit is designed as a DUAL COMBO, i.e. a set enabling you to build both types. The plastic parts and decals are supplied by Eduard, and the kit includes pre-painted photo-etched parts and masking films. The choice of eight camouflage schemes gives modellers a wide range of options for selecting specific aircraft and their markings corresponding to their deployment in the CBI Theatre. Thanks to the 1:48 scale, the details of both aircraft, as well as their characteristic camouflage and markings, are clearly visible. Resin parts are not included in the kit. The kit does not contain the paints or adhesives required for assembly.
