AK Interactive AK10039 Black & White Shading & Effects Set - Weathering Pencils (5 pcs) This set includes five 17 cm long AK Weathering Pencils designed for shading, edge highlighting, contrast, winter camouflage, and dark effects. They are suitable for plastic models, figures, dioramas, terrain, and wargaming miniatures. The semi-greasy, water-based acrylic lead is easy to control and allows you to combine precise dry strokes with water-blending.

Best results are achieved on a matte surface. Individual shades can be layered, blended together with a damp brush, and retouched after drying.

• AK10001 Black – deep shadows, black deposits, soot, and joint highlights
• AK10002 Rubber – depiction of rubber on tires, tracks, hoses, and dark matte parts
• AK10003 Smoke – smoke and exhaust trails, soot, and soft dark transitions
• AK10004 White – light edges, weathering, winter camouflage, and highlighting effects
• AK10005 Dirty White – faded white, weathered winter camouflage, and subdued light marks

Recommended Procedure

1. Draw scuffs, shadows, patterns, or streaks onto a dry, matte surface.
2. Leave sharp marks dry; shape soft transitions and drips with a brush lightly moistened with water.
3. Combine shades in several thin layers. Dried effects can be re-moistened and corrected.
4. Once completely dry, the result can be sealed with modeler’s varnish.
