AK Interactive AK2029 Landing Gear Wash (35 ml) is a ready-to-use enamel wash with good flow that highlights seams, rivets, welds, panels, and other recessed details. This specific shade is designed for landing gear legs, bays, and hydraulic components of aircraft. It is suitable for dark tones on metal surfaces, hydraulic actuators, landing gear bays, and related details on both historical and modern aircraft.
The wash is not a covering paint. Its thin consistency allows it to flow into recesses, where it creates shadows and visually separates individual structural elements. The intensity can be controlled by the amount of product applied and by subsequent cleaning of the surface.
Recommended Procedure
- Shake the bottle thoroughly to ensure the pigment is evenly mixed.
- Apply to a completely dry, painted or varnished surface. A smooth satin or glossy varnish will facilitate precise seepage into the seams; for unknown combinations, first test compatibility on a hidden area.
- Using a medium-sized round brush, apply the wash around details, into joints, and into recesses. For a precise pin wash, use a fine, pointed brush.
- Let the product dry for about 15 minutes. Remove excess with a clean brush lightly dampened with White Spirit or a milder, odorless thinner.
- Repeat the cleaning process until only the desired shadow remains around the details. Allow the layer to dry thoroughly before applying any further enamel effects.
Practical tip: Apply it around joints, wiring, screws, and edges; leave shiny piston rods and clean contact surfaces more distinctly defined.
Use AK Interactive White Spirit 35 ml to touch up and remove excess paint. AK Interactive Odorless Thinner 35 ml is suitable for gentler and less aggressive blending.
