AK Interactive AK065 Light Brown for Desert Yellow / Afrika Korps Filter (35 ml) is a translucent enamel filter designed to subtly alter the base color tone. This specific variant is designed for Afrika Korps vehicles, sand-colored, and other light-colored camouflage schemes. It subtly adjusts the base tone of DAK desert vehicles and is also suitable for modern vehicles in sand and light colors.
The filter is not a wash. A wash concentrates in seams and recesses, while a filter is applied in minimal quantities over a larger area. It helps break up the monotony of single-color camouflage, harmonize multiple shades, or color-code selected panels without obscuring the base coat or fine details.
Recommended Procedure
- Shake the bottle thoroughly. The surface must be completely dry, painted, and varnished; the manufacturer particularly recommends a satin finish.
- Simply dampen a flat, soft brush with the filter. The brush should not be so saturated that the product drips from it.
- Spread the filter into a very thin, even layer without puddles or flooding the details. Blend the strokes smoothly so that no sharp patches form after drying.
- To achieve a uniform overall look, cover the entire surface; for color variation, work only on selected panels or areas.
- Let the layer dry completely before assessing the final tone. Build up the intensity with additional thin layers, not with a single thick application.
Practical tip: On a light background, start with a single, very thin layer; add another only after evaluating the result once it is completely dry.
The filter can be thinned, adjusted, or removed using AK Interactive White Spirit 35 ml. For finer work, AK Interactive Odorless Thinner 35 ml is recommended.
