The M3 half-track armored personnel carrier was developed from a four-wheeled reconnaissance vehicle. During World War II, the White Motor Company produced more than 41,000 units. This version featured an improved firing position for the M49 machine gun, located above the right front seat. Between 1942 and 1943, all M3 half-tracks (standard models and A1 versions) underwent continuous modernization.
