1/72 Curtiss Kittyhawk Mk.I / Mk.II "Desert Harassers" 1942-1944 part I
Art Scale 1/72 Curtiss Kittyhawk Mk.I / Mk.II “Desert Harassers” part I is a decal sheet for four Kittyhawks of Nos. 450 and 3 Squadrons RAAF in North Africa and Italy.
This 1/72 Art Scale decal sheet offers four marking options in desert camouflage. Kittyhawk Mk.I FX515 (OK-K) with a pin-up and AK634 (OK-M) belonged to No. 450 Squadron RAAF in Libya (1943 and 1942). Kittyhawk Mk.II FL308 (CV-V) was flown by No. 3 Squadron RAAF commander Bobby Gibbes in Egypt in August–September 1942. The fourth option is the CV-V of the same squadron's commander Brian Eaton at Cutella airfield, Italy, 1944.
No. 450 Squadron adopted the “Desert Harassers” nickname from a mocking propaganda broadcast and took it as its motto. No. 3 Squadron RAAF flew Kittyhawks in North Africa and Italy until November 1944. Kittyhawk was the British name for the Curtiss P-40D to P-40N. The series continues with part II (200-D72005).
