1/48 SAAB J29 B double-sided painting mask for Pilot Replicas
ASK masks for the Pilot Replicas SAAB J 29B Tunnan plastic kit in 1/48 scale are double-sided. Masks 1–7 cover the windscreen and canopy outside, masks 8–14 in the INTERIOR section inside; circular masks are added.
ASK handled the mask design itself, expressly for the 1/48 Pilot Replicas SAAB J 29B Tunnan kit. Sheet ASK 200-M48041 from the SCALE MASK range (DOUBLE-SIDED) contains pane masks and frame strips for the outer side (1–7) and a matching set for the inner side in the INTERIOR section (8–14). The right-hand column consists of circular masks.
The Saab 29 Tunnan ("the barrel") owes its nickname to the rotund fuselage dictated by the de Havilland Ghost jet engine. It was the first Western European fighter with a swept wing to be produced after the Second World War. J 29Bs saw combat in the Congo from 1961 as part of the UN peacekeeping mission. The masks are intended for the Pilot Replicas kit in 1/48 scale.
