1/32 MiG-21F-13 Fishbed part 2 - US Air Force TES (TAC) unit
ASK 1/32 MiG-21F-13 Fishbed part 2 – US Air Force TES (TAC) unit is a decal set for three MiG-21F-13s in US service with the 4477th Test and Evaluation Squadron at Tonopah, Nevada.
This 1/32 Art Scale sheet provides two aircraft in US national insignia numbered 80965 – one with a chequered fin that links to the fictional Canadian series of sheet 200-D32076, the other without it – and MiG "Red 85" in mottled camouflage with a red star, flown according to the sheet by Lt Col Gail Peck. In unit records the MiG-21 was hidden under the cover designation YF-110.
The 4477th Test and Evaluation Squadron "Red Eagles" flew Soviet aircraft from the late 1970s in the classified Constant Peg programme, giving US pilots training against adversary types. Gail Peck was one of the initiators of the programme. The 1/32 MiG-21F-13 plastic kit is sold separately.
If necessary, the decal carrier varnish can be removed by washing it off with Zippo lighter fluid.
