1/72 Vickers Wellesley Mk.I (African campaign) - Valom
Valom 1/72 Vickers Wellesley Mk.I (African Campaign) is a plastic kit of the British long-range bomber from the fighting in East Africa. The decals depict two RAF aircraft based in Sudan in 1940.
The Vickers Wellesley, with Barnes Wallis's geodetic structure and bombs carried in underwing panniers, was obsolescent by the start of the war but still found a role in Africa. After Italy declared war on 10 June 1940, Sudan-based Wellesleys attacked Asmara in Italian Eritrea the very next day and continued to fly raids during the East African campaign.
The Valom kit contains plastic parts supplemented with photo-etched details and a decal sheet with two RAF aircraft deployed in Sudan in 1940. The box shows a pair of Wellesleys in desert camouflage over African landscape, with bomb panniers under the wings.
Desert camouflage and the long wing give the 1/72 scale model a striking look that suits a collection of aircraft from the African theatres. The limited-run kit is aimed at more experienced modellers. Paints and glue are not included.
