1/43 STARTER KIT Mercedes C9 Starter Kit

The Mercedes-Benz C9 is one of the iconic Group C racing prototypes and is inextricably linked with Mercedes’ return to top-flight motorsport. Developed in collaboration with the Swiss Sauber team, the car made its mark in the World Sportscar Championship in the late 1980s. The highlight of its career was the 1989 season, when the cars in their distinctive silver livery — continuing the tradition of the pre-war ‘Silver Arrows’ — dominated the championship and also triumphed in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans. The C9 thus represents one of the most significant milestones in the modern history of motorsport and is a favourite subject among collectors of racing car models.

This kit from Heller is a 1:43 scale plastic model designed as a Starter Kit, i.e. a starter set for those who want to begin building models without the hassle of selecting additional parts. As well as the model parts, the pack also contains a basic set of paints, glue and a brush, meaning you can start building straight away upon opening the box. The kit comprises 23 parts and also includes decals to complete the car’s finish. The smaller number of parts and straightforward design make this model a suitable project for novice modellers and a welcome addition to the collection for more experienced ones.

The 1:43 scale is very common amongst model cars and allows you to display several cars in a small space. On a racing prototype such as the C9, the smooth, aerodynamically shaped bodywork stands out, featuring a distinctive rear wing and the team’s characteristic colour scheme. The starter pack contains the basic paints, glue and a brush needed to assemble and paint the model.
