Hobby Boss 1/48 YF-23 Prototype is a plastic kit of an American prototype fighter. The Northrop YF-23 was developed with McDonnell Douglas for the US Advanced Tactical Fighter programme, and two prototypes flew in 1990. Its diamond-shaped wing and canted tail surfaces gave it a distinctive silhouette, but the competition was won by the YF-22, which led to the F-22 Raptor.
According to the manufacturer the kit has 90 parts. The cockpit consists of a tub and ejection seat, the undercarriage bays are separate, and the clear parts include the canopy. The decals with the FF code, number 203 and Air Combat Command badges represent a fictitious operational aircraft – the real prototypes never wore such markings. Paints and glue required for assembly are not included.
Nationality: USA. Period: Cold War.
