Hobby Boss 1/48 F6F-5N Hellcat is a plastic kit of a night fighter. The F6F-5N is the night fighter version of the carrier-based Hellcat. It differs from the day-fighter F6F-5 by the radar in a fairing on the starboard wing, which allowed the pilot to find targets in darkness.
The decals depict F6F-5N BuNo 70866, number 15, of night fighter squadron VF(N)-107 in September 1944. The 1/48 scale model is an interesting addition to a Hellcat collection or to a line-up of US carrier aircraft from the Pacific War. Paints and glue required for assembly are not included.
