The M1128 Mobile Gun System (MGS) is a specialized variant of the Stryker wheeled armored vehicle, which has formed the backbone of the U.S. Army’s medium brigade combat teams since the early 21st century. While the basic Stryker serves primarily as a troop carrier, the MGS version was developed as a direct fire support vehicle equipped with a 105mm gun mounted in a low-profile automated turret. This configuration was intended to provide units with rapidly deployable firepower against fortifications, light vehicles, and buildings without having to wait for heavier tanks. The M1128 saw action in Iraq and Afghanistan, where its mobility and firepower complemented the infantry variants of the Stryker in both urban and open terrain.
